Bringing Sexy Back: Week 1

I know that it isn't the official check in for this week {that would be Saturday} but I wanted to update y'all on where I am at in the Sexy Back Challenge.

Today begins another grueling round of the P90X Lean Program, with one of my least favorite workouts: Core Synergistics.  I'm not really sure why it's my least favorite... but it is. If you are familiar with P90X you would automatically assume my least favorite would be PlyoX- but I am weird and actually like that workout, despite its level of difficulty.

Y'all are going to need to send me some extra motivation today because it is currently raining at our house. Which means that it is the perfect pajama day! My boys are curled up on the couch under an over-sized blanket at this very moment, watching Super Readers on Netfilx. And I SO desperately want to join them! But this Mama needs to lace up her running shoes and hit the treadmill instead. Followed by Core Synergistics. Booo... hahaha!

Take a look at workout schedule this week:

Monday: Run 2 miles. Core Synergistics
Tuesday: Cardio X
Wednesday: Run 3 miles. Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X
Thursday: Yoga X
Friday: Legs & Back, Ab Ripper X
Saturday: Run 4 miles
Sunday: Kenpo X

*** And now for those dreadful "Before" pictures***

I *hate* taking pictures of myself. I feel weird when I do it. And taking "before" pictures is just plain awful.

I look ridiculous. I attempted to take one of myself in our bathroom. When that didn't work out so well I enlisted the help of my 5 year old.

This was the best we could come up with. Hahaha!

I may need to get Greg to help me out when he gets home from work so that I can get some accurate "before" pictures. Then again... it just might slip my mind... :)

I have also selected 52 Things Kids Need From a Mom by Angela Thomas as my July book of the month.

I flipped through it a bit last night and it looks like a good read. The chapters are short, which is perfect for busy, on the go Moms!

And if you've been keeping tabs on me the past few days, you'll know that I am committing Psalm 145 {yes, the entire chapter} to memory this week. God is already using this passage of Scripture to rock my world!

I will extol You, my God, O King,
And I will bless Your name forever
and ever.
Every day I will bless You.
And I will praise Your name forever
and ever.
Great is the Lord, and highly to be
praised,
And His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall praise Your
works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of Your majesty
And on Your wonderful works, I will
meditate.
Men shall speak of the power of Your
awesome acts,
And I will tell of Your greatness.
They shall eagerly utter the memory
of Your abundant goodness
And will shout joyfully of Your
righteousness.

The LORD is gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in
lovingkindness.
The LORD is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His
works.
All Your works shall give thanks to
You, O LORD,
And Your godly ones shall bless You.
They shall speak of the glory of Your
kingdom
And talk of Your power;
To make known to the sons of men
Your mighty acts
And the glory of the majesty of Your
kingdom
And Your dominion endures
throughout all generations.

The LORD sustains all who fall
And raises up all who are bowed
down.
The eyes of all look to You,
And You give them their food in due
time.
You open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living
thing.

The LORD is righteous in all His ways
And kind in all His deeds.
The LORD is near to all who call upon
Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.
He will fulfill the desire of those who
fear Him;
He will also hear their cry and will
save them.
The Lord keeps all who love Him,
But all the wicked He will destroy.
My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD,
And all flesh will bless His holy
name forever and ever.

I cannot WAIT to see what else the Lord has to teach me this week!

One last thing and then I will go. You may have noticed I have added a few additions to the sidebar. I finally figured out how to create a blog button! I have also added a few buttons that will direct you to some of my sweet bloggy friends {or at least the ones who had blog buttons}! So I hope you will take a second to head on over to their blogs and say hi! Tell them I sent you :)

Friday will also begin my first ever blog link up! Yay!! I know that there are several other popular blog link ups on Fridays, but that was honestly the best day of the week for me to host a link up. I will post the vision and purpose behind the link up later in the week so that if y'all would like to participate you can get your posts ready in advance.

Sorry for such a long post! Thanks for stopping by and hanging out with me for a bit :)

Have a great week Y'all!

    1. I know! She's great! I'm excited to read this one. Greg brought it home for me after his National Sales Meeting at LifeWay a couple of months ago and I am just now getting around to reading it.

    1. Eating right totally makes a difference! I ate horrible last week and I could tell a difference in my workouts today. Now I'm going to be a good girl and eat right :)

  4. I love that you post the workout schedule. Does it keep you more accountable? I'm trying to figure out how to stick to something after I have my second baby so that I can lose weight this time. By the way, I think your before pictures are great!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Victoria! I'm so glad you join us over here at {All Things New} You are too sweet :)

Yes, posting the workout schedule seems to help me stay with a program. Knowing that others are reading about what I am attempting to do is both encouraging and motivating. Plus I don't want to be a fraud by posting something and then not following through with it.

And I have some pretty great readers who do an excellent job keeping me focused with their positive comments!
