I'm Not Called to be Super Woman

I saw this on Pinterest this afternoon and it literally made me stop in my tracks.

Most mornings when I wake up, before my feet even touch the floor, I envision my body lying on an altar at the Lord's feet (Romans 12:1). For me, this acts as a visual reminder that I must crucify my flesh-daily- that I may live according to the Spirit of Christ who dwells in me.

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I love by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." - Galatians 2:20

I say 'most mornings' because there are definitely days that I succumb to the desires of my sin nature. Regrettably it is on those days that I find myself fighting an inner battle between the will of my flesh and the will of Christ. Unfortunately, it is also on those days that I seem to unknowingly strive to become more like Super Woman. Today has been such a day. And I am so grateful for these gentle reminders.

I am not called to be Super Woman.

I am called to abide in Christ.

"By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, 'I have come to know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him; the one who says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same manner as He walked."
 1 John 1:3-6

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine and your are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."
John 15:4-5

This has served as a timely reminder that I must fix my eyes on Jesus. Do any of you struggle with this? In a world that is utterly consumed with busyness and productivity, how do you remain a woman who is abiding in Christ?

I just subscribed to your emails, Megan, because I have a feeling that I'll be leaning on your words (God's words) to keep me on the right track!!!

  4. Such a good, and truthful, reminder! I like the way it's phrased--we aren't called to be Superwomen...sometimes it's easy to get caught up in thinking that we are called to that!
